In the month of January into the first part of February, the Africa Cup of Nations will take place and AC Milan are expected to loose Samuel Chukwueze, Reelradio.com.ng reports.

Nigeria will open camp for the competition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on January 1.

AC Milan have a cup game against Cagliari on January 2 and only want to release Chukwueze after the fixture.

Milan have opened dialogues with Nigeria football federation, to convince the national team to let Chukwueze leave Italy on 3 January, so as to have them available for Milan-Cagliari, the round of 16 final of the Coppa Italia, which will be played on day before.

However, Chukwueze is one of the player who is sure of a place at the AFCON, and Peseiro may be willing to let the Nigerian winger resume a bit late.

Whether Nigeria will accept the proposal is not yet known, but it must be pointed out that it is only the training camp that begins early in January, given that the first game involving Super Eagles isn’t until January 14.

Head Coach Peseiro will find himself with a complete squad only from January 3, aligning with FIFA’s release deadline and setting the stage for Nigeria’s pursuit of glory in the upcoming African football spectacle.

Super Eagles of Nigeria are aiming for a fourth AFCON title, have been drawn in Group A together with hosts Ivory Coast as well as Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau
