Last night, in the enchanting city of Marrakech, Morocco, Lookman shone brightly on the sporting stage, receiving the esteemed title of African Footballer of the Year, which underscores his unwavering determination and significant turnaround in his career.
In 2022, Lookman found himself at a pivotal moment, having no international appearances to his name after previously playing for England at the youth level. Now, two years later, his steadfast decision to wear the Super Eagles jersey has yielded impressive results.

Lookman, born in England to Nigerian parents, has achieved continental recognition through a journey that defies convention. He played a crucial role in England’s success at the 2017 U-20 World Cup, netting three goals and paving a promising future for himself.
Nevertheless, the initial phases of his career were fraught with difficulties as he experienced various tenures with Charlton and R.B. Leipzig, facing both triumphs and disappointments.
Despite loan periods with clubs like Leicester City that did not meet expectations, Lookman remained steadfast, committed to revitalizing his career.
A New Beginning
The year 2022 proved to be a pivotal moment for Lookman. Later that year, Lookman made the transition to Atalanta, leaving the English league for the Italian one—a decision that served as a turning point in his performance.
