Nigerian forward Anthony Ujah sent a poignant message to Eintracht Braunschweig on Wednesday, ending his two-year stint with the club.
Ujah’s contract expired on June 30th, 2024, ending his two-season spell with the team. His debut season was a success, with 10 goals and 5 assists in 29 league appearances.
However, Ujah’s great start to the 2023/24 season, which included three goals and an assist in his first seven games, was cut short by a shoulder injury (acromioclavicular joint dislocation) that kept him out for ten games. He was unable to score in the 15 games following his comeback from injury.
Despite the varied results of his two seasons, Anthony Ujah thanked the club for its hospitality in a farewell statement.
“Dear Eintracht fans, after two years with you, my time here has come to an end,” the Nigerian striker wrote on Instagram.
“I arrived in Braunschweig after a difficult time with injury, and you all provided me with incredible support and love, rekindling my passion for football.” It’s painful to say goodbye, but every beginning has to end.
“I am incredibly delighted to wear the Eintracht jersey and fulfill our goals in both seasons. It was a pleasure to come to work every day, and I will never forget my experience here. Many thanks to all of our teammates, staff, coaches, and amazing supporters. I wish the squad the best of luck this season, and I will certainly return to say my goodbyes when the time comes.”
