Aston Villa have celebrated securing a long-awaited return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1983 after Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Tottenham.
City’s victory on Tuesday night saw them overtake Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, taking a crucial two-point lead in the title race with just one game remaining.
Pep Guardiola’s side now seem to be in pole position to claim a fourth successive Premier League title (a feat never achieved before) after taking control of the EPL Standings.
However, The Cityzens success also had major consequences for Aston Villa, who have ended their 41-year exile from Europe’s elite club competition by finishing fourth.
The Villans took to social media in celebratory mood, posting: “Aston Villa Football Club. Back on Europe’s biggest stage” accompanied by pictures of wild celebrations from their end-of-season party.
This marks an incredible achievement for Unai Emery’s revitalised Aston Villa who battled relegation this time last year before the Spaniard’s arrival sparked a remarkable turnaround.
But after four decades away, Villa are finally back dining at football’s top table and the Villains are partying hard.
