Nigeria’s aspirations for a robust comeback in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers have suffered a significant setback, as key striker Victor Osimhen is expected to be unavailable for the vital doubleheader against Libya.

The Super Eagles’ leading forward has incurred an injury that may prevent him from participating in the forthcoming matches, presenting interim coach Augustine Eguavoen with the task of reconfiguring his offensive strategy.

Osimhen, who is presently on loan from Napoli, sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s match against Kasimpasa, where he impressed spectators by scoring two goals and achieving his first goal for the club.

Reports from the club, as stated by A Spor, indicate that Osimhen has been experiencing discomfort in his left upper posterior muscle and is presently receiving treatment.

In the announcement made by the club, the following statements were used: “The treatment of our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his upper left posterior muscle during the Kasımpaşa match in the seventh week of the Trendyol Super League and who was diagnosed with strain (strain and bleeding) in his upper left posterior muscle group during the check-ups at our sponsor hospital Medicana, has begun.”.

In the absence of Osimhen, Eguavoen is expected to summon an appropriate substitute as he seeks to obtain crucial points in the match against Libya.
