Victor Boniface, the forward for the Super Eagles, has resumed training with Bayer Leverkusen following the collapse of his high-profile transfer to Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr.
Boniface was absent from Leverkusen’s training session on Tuesday due to significant interest from Al Nassr and was not included in the squad for their UEFA Champions League match against Sparta Prague on Wednesday as negotiations regarding the transfer were ongoing.
Reports indicated that both clubs had reached an agreement on a €60 million transfer fee, with Boniface set to receive an annual net salary of €16 million. However, the transfer ultimately fell through when Al Nassr did not provide the final approval, opting instead to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa for €77 million.
Following Leverkusen’s Champions League victory on Wednesday, it has been confirmed that Boniface will resume training in preparation for their upcoming Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim on Sunday, February 2nd.
The Nigerian international shared images of himself training, accompanied by a humorous caption: “Jingle all the way through your calls with this Hello Tune! Reply 1 or Dial *790*15# to download Feliz by Chinedu Egbulefu for 7 days FREE,” Boniface posted on X.
Having recently recovered from an injury that sidelined him since November 2024 during his time with the Super Eagles, Boniface is eager to make an impact and enhance his current record of eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
