Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, bids Bendel Insurance farewell on Wednesday as the team depart for the CAF Confederation Cup second-leg tie against Algeria’s ASO Chlef, Reelradio.com.ng reports.

“I am sure you are prepared for the Algerian journey. I know that the team knows what to do and I am sure you will play better there than in Benin City because you were anxious about the home crowd,” he said.

“You have nothing to lose in this encounter but everything to gain. They are old men, and I know they don’t have stamina. I am here to see you, motivate you, and ensure you are in good spirits.”

The governor urged them to stick to the plans of head coach Monday Odigie, which had helped the team remain unbeaten throughout the abridged season of the Nigeria Premier Football League last term.

The Nigeria Federation Cup Champions left Benin City en route to Lagos to connect with a flight to Algiers.

The Benin Arsenal hold a slim advantage over their North African opponent after a 1-0 victory in the first leg last weekend.

Meanwhile, African Soccer ruling body has appointed Abdulbasset Chahoub of Libya as the centre referee for the crucial second-leg tie between ASO Chlef of Algeria and Nigeria’s Bendel Insurance.

Chahoub will be assisted by his compatriots Wahid El-Djehaoui (1st assistant) and Ibrahim Bekouz (2nd assistant), Abderrazak Ahmed will work as the reserved referee.

Bendel Insurance will lock horns with ASO Chlef at the Salem Mabrouki stadium in Rouiba this weekend.
