Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team triumphed with a 3-2 win against NPFL side Sunshine Stars in a friendly match held on Wednesday.
This friendly served as a preparation for the Super Eagles B team ahead of the CHAN tournament, which has been postponed to August 2025 due to infrastructure issues.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars took advantage of the match to sharpen their squad in anticipation of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) resuming on January 25.
Enugu Rangers midfielder Isaac Saviour kicked off the scoring for the home-based Eagles, followed by NPFL top scorer Anas Yusuf from Nasarawa United and Shooting Stars left-back Ikouwem Utin, who both contributed to the national team’s goals.
Newly appointed head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, was present at the friendly, having visited the team the day before.
With the African Nations Championship now delayed, the home-based players will head back to their clubs to get ready for the league’s restart.
