Stand-in Head Coach Daniel Ogunmodede has announced an 18-player squad of stars from the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) for the upcoming CHAN qualifiers against Ghana’s Black Galaxies.

The lineup features seasoned midfielder Rabiu Ali, wing-back Sadiq Ishmael, centre-back Stephen Manyo, alongside midfielders Musa Zayyad and Jide Fatokun, as well as forwards Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi, who will spearhead the team in the first leg of this crucial match, set for Sunday in Accra.

Also making the roster are goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, defender Victor Collins, and forward Abubakar Adamu. Nigeria aims to triumph in this two-leg contest, especially considering that Ghana’s Black Galaxies previously halted Nigeria’s route to the championship in both 2009 and 2023.

The first leg kicks off at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday at 4pm local time (5pm in Nigeria). In addition, both nations’ U17 women’s teams will vie for the inaugural WAFU B U17 Cup at the Ghana Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

The second leg is scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, December 28th. The aggregate winner will secure a spot in the 8th African Nations Championship, which will take place in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda from February 1st to 28th, 2025.
