Mykhailo Mudryk is on the verge of being dropped by Chelsea as reports have emerged about Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff not being happy with the winger and considering his replacement.
According to a report by Football Insider, Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff at Chelsea are not really impressed with what they have seen from Mudryk and they are unimpressed by his development since arriving at the club.
Mudryk showed great promise during his days at Shakhtar Donetsk and that is why multiple top clubs wanted to sign him. Chelsea ended up winning the race for his services after battling out with Arsenal who were one of the clubs linked with the Ukrainian international.
The Blues broke the bank and forked out a reported fee of £88.5 million for the 23-year-old at the start of 2023. He was expected to establish himself in their first team and be the next big thing. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan for the player as well as the club. Mudryk has struggled to get going and he hasn’t yet cemented his place in the starting XI.
This season, he only has six goals and two assists from 33 matches of which he has started only 16 of those and the rest coming from the bench.
According to reports, Chelsea are set to reinforce their attack ahead of next season and would be signing a marquee winger in the upcoming transfer window as the Ukrainian international has not lived up to expectations.
The Blues have been linked with Athletic Club star Nico Williams and have reportedly started making moves to land him at Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old Spanish International has played 28 matches for both club and country this season and has racked up a total of 4 goals and 11 assists.
With the Blues looking to sign a new winger, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Mudryk. who penned down a huge contract that runs until 2031 when he joined Chelsea.
