Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze is anticipated to be sidelined for a minimum of eight significant matches following an injury sustained during the Serie A encounter against Roma on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the first half shortly after Chukwueze attempted a shot on goal, resulting in him collapsing to the ground while grasping his hamstring. He promptly signaled for a substitution, with Tammy Abraham taking over his position.
Chukwueze was excluded from the traveling squad for the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia. However, after undergoing a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan yesterday, it has been confirmed that he will be unavailable for the entirety of January.
The MRI results indicated a lesion in the left femoral biceps. The Nigerian player is scheduled for a re-evaluation in ten days and is expected to be out for at least one month, which means he will miss all of January.
Consequently, the winger will be absent for the following matches: the Supercoppa semi-final against Juventus, the final (if Milan qualifies), home matches against Cagliari and Parma, away games against Como and Dinamo Zagreb, as well as a home fixture against Girona. The derby on February 2 may be a potential target for his return.
The 25-year-old FIFA U-17 World Cup champion has recorded only one goal and no assists in 17 Serie A appearances during the ongoing 2024/2025 season.
