City’s Rodri establishes ambitious timeline for his return following knee surgery

Manchester City’s Rodri has expressed his determination to make a comeback from a significant knee injury before the conclusion of the current season, despite being declared out for the remainder of the campaign in September.

The Spanish midfielder, who was awarded the Ballon d’Or last month, underwent surgery following an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during a 2-2 match against Arsenal. Manager Pep Guardiola had previously stated that Rodri would not return to play this season.

“My goal is to return this season,” the 28-year-old stated.

“I believe that maintaining a positive mindset and not conceding the season will be beneficial for me.”

“I am uncertain about the exact timeline… my aim is six to seven months, but the physiotherapists will ultimately determine that.”

Currently, City holds the second position in the Premier League and aims to narrow the eight-point deficit to Liverpool when they face the league leaders on Sunday.
