Rivers United came from a goal down against Ghana’s Dreams FC to navigate their way into the Confederation Cup quarterfinals after securing a late 2-1 win.
In the game, Dream FC went ahead against the run of play in Uyo when Abdul Aziz Issha found the net in the 40th minute.
Rivers United fought back to equalise in the 61st minute through Echeta Deputy to put the score at 1-1.
The Nigerian side went on to grab a late winner in the 10th minute of added time, through Kazie Goodwill. The result in the other group stage game guaranteed Rivers United a passage to the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that The Pride of Rivers are in the quarter-finals of the competition for the second consecutive season, but they were eliminated by Young Africans of Tanzania last season.
