Argentina thought they had scored a second in the 65th minute but Maxime Crépeau stood his ground to deny Lionel Messi getting his name on the scoresheet, when he made a diving stop from a goal attempt and the rebound was blocked by Canada defender Derek Cornelius.

The defending Champions are looking to win their third straight major title after winning the 2021 Copa América and the 2022 World Cup.
Up next for Albiceleste is Chile on Tuesday, before they face Peru in their final group fixture on June 29.
