Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers was the star of the show as Rangers cruised to a 5-0 win over Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup.
Dessers scored a hat-trick to lead his team to victory, redeeming himself after a recent slump in form.
Despite his decent statistics, Dessers hasn’t been impressive with his finishing, and as a result, he found himself relegated to the bench in recent games.
Dessers experienced a varied first half, initially squandering a clear chance before finally scoring in the 27th minute. A corner from James Tavernier found him unmarked, allowing him to head the ball into the net and give Rangers the lead.
Fraserburgh almost equalized when debutant Rangers goalkeeper Mason Munn misplayed a pass under pressure, presenting Scott Barbour with an opportunity. Barbour’s shot managed to slip through Munn’s legs but narrowly missed the far post. He may have regretted not passing to the unmarked Connor Wood, who would have had an easy finish.
Fraserburgh managed to stay resilient and went into halftime trailing by just one goal, thanks to a remarkable save from goalkeeper Joe Barbour, who deflected Jefte’s shot onto the post. However, the part-time team began to tire in the second half, allowing Rangers to assert their dominance.
Nsiala extended the lead with his first professional goal, capitalizing on a deflection off Jamie Beagrie. Dessers then scored his second with a tap-in following an assist from Tavernier, before setting up McCausland for Rangers’ fourth goal. He completed his hat-trick with a composed finish in the closing moments of the match.
