The 5th Governor Duoye Diri Prosperity cup which kicked off on July 1 with a coaching clinic spearheaded by UEFA licensed foreign trainers from Sweden and Lithuania and supported by Nigeria’s U20 (Flying Eagles) head coach, Ladan Bosso entered day 2 with more intensive training for coaches and intending coaches in Bayelsa state.
The event which also doubles as a scouting exercise at The Samson Siasia stadium, Yenagoa continues to give room for youngsters hoping to make the move to pro football as players took to the field in an attempt to impress local and foreign scouts watching with keen interest and rapt attention.
Chief organizer and DG of the Prosperity cup, Onoriode Kelvin Akpe specially thanked the governor for throwing his weight behind the initiative.
He added that football, a proven way of changing lives positively has a multiplier effect in a family, a community, and the whole state. According to him, it is one of the ways the governor, Douye Diri intends to positively ensure shared prosperity agenda.
The DG promised to bring in more experts later this year to teach the game to coaches, referees, and discover more footballers.
Day 3 continues today, July 3 and is expected to end with a final game on Thursday, July 4.
