Enugu Rangers consolidated their stronghold at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL)  following their home win over Sunshine Stars while Enyimba and Lobi Stars bagged positive results to stay in the top three as Matchday 28 fixtures were completed yesterday.

Goals from Kalu Nweke and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi in the 40th and 71st minutes respectively, saw Enugu Rangers run out 2-0 winners over Sunshine Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

The Flying Antelopes are 3 points clear at the top with 51 points from 28 games.

The Seven-time Champions also extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games under the tutelage of Fidelis Ilechukwu and seek to continue in such fine form with ten games remaining till the end of the season.

It is definitely not going be an easy task for them as Nine-time champions, Enyimba FC and Lobi Stars sit behind them on 48 points respectively which is a 3 point gap.

Remo Stars are not far off with 46 points with a game in hand.

The People’s Elephant smashed Kano Pillars 5-0 at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium to stay close to the top and apply pressure on current table toppers.

While Lobi Stars halted the recent winning home run of Sporting Lagos following a 1-1 draw.

Enugu Rangers last won the NPFL in the 2015/16 season under former coach Imama Amapakabo in his first stint at the club after a 32-year wait.

They will be hoping to lay hold of the NPFL trophy again after a long while at the end of the season.

Their next fixture is an away match against Katsina United on Sunday 7th, April in Match week 29.
