Cyriel Dessers says he is excited to have scored his first goal for Glasgow Rangers in their 2-1 win over 10-manSevette in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifying round at Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday, Reelradio.com.ng reports.
The Gers had taken the lead in the 6th minute from the penalty spot through James Tavernier before Cyriel Dessers made it 2-0 in the 15th minute.
The hosts had thought their bright start to the game would yield a lot of goals however, the reverse was the case as Chris Bedia in the 44th minute also from the penalty spot, however, Dessers goal proved to be the deciding goal as they head into the second leg with a one-point advantage.
Reacting to scoring his first goal, Dessers says he is thrilled to get off the mark for the Gers.
“I am happy that it was an important goal that we got the win, The Super Eagles striker told the club website. “We know what our qualities are and we wanted to show it in front of our own crowd and get a good start and get the energy and get the energy in the stadium as well.
“We got it – the fans were amazing today, especially in the first half Ibrox was on fire and that was a nice feeling.”
Both sides will clash again next week for a place in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
