The Flamingos secured an impressive 6-0 win against Burkina Faso in the second leg of the third qualification round of the Fifa U17 Women’s World Cup, held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Saturday.
Coach Bankole Olowokoore opted to maintain the same lineup that featured in the first leg at Stade du 26 Mar, Bamako last Saturday.
Nigeria made an impressive start to the game, creating an early chance in the 7th minute. Although they initially missed the opportunity, Chidi Harmony secured the lead for the team in the 11th minute.
Peace Effiong then doubled the lead in the 34th minute, and the home side maintained their two-goal advantage until the end of the first half.
Burkina Faso didn’t respond, allowing the Flamingos to take the lead with their third goal in the 74th minute. Chidi scored the goal with a header, doubling her tally in the game.
Just six minutes before the end of normal regulation time, Ramota Kareem secured the fourth goal of the evening with an impressive effort, putting the Flamingos in a very comfortable position.
Shortly after, Harmony completed her exceptional performance by scoring another goal to achieve her hat-trick, while Effiong further solidified the victory with a goal just a minute before the end of regulation time.
As a result, the Flamingos have secured their spot in the fourth and final qualifying round.
