Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been assigned to a demanding group for the 2024 WAFU B U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tournament.
In this competition, scheduled to take place in Togo, the team led by Aliyu Zubairu will compete in Group B, which includes Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
Group A features the host nation Togo, alongside Niger Republic, Ghana, and Benin Republic. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
The tournament is set to occur next month in Togo, while the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations is slated to be held in South Africa in January.
This January event will also act as a qualifier for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
In preparation for the WAFU Championship, the Flying Eagles commenced their training three weeks ago in Abuja.
