A report from Fabrizio Romano indicates that Hoffenheim has reached an agreement with Olympique Lyonnais for the transfer of Gift Orban (22).
It is widely acknowledged that OL must offload players during the January transfer window. Following a provisional relegation to Ligue 2 imposed by the DNCG in November, the club is compelled to sell players to avert this outcome before the season concludes. Orban has been identified as one of the players likely to leave, and there is notable interest in the forward.
Since his arrival at Lyon last January for a transfer fee of €14 million, the Nigerian has found himself on the fringes of the team. Earlier this week, L’Équipe reported that Hoffenheim had made a bid of €10 million, which is close to OL’s valuation of €12 million for the player. An agreement has now been finalized, pending the resolution of personal terms for the Nigerian to finalize his transfer to the Bundesliga.
While RC Lens and Galatasaray had both shown significant interest in acquiring Orban, it now appears that the striker is set to move to Germany.
