Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe may face the prospect of losing promising Nigerian full-back Bright Osayi-Samuel due to halted contract discussions, as the player’s existing agreement is set to conclude at the end of the season.
The Technical Director is said to be quite satisfied with Osayi-Samuel’s performances.
The 26-year-old athlete, currently earning 1.8 million euros annually, has communicated to the management his desire for a salary increase of approximately 40%, aiming for 2.5 million euros in return for a new contract, according to Fanatik.
In addition to the salary raise, Osayi Samuel is also requesting a four-year contract. However, Fenerbahçe has considered the defender’s demands to be excessive and has opted to delay negotiations, as they are willing to offer no more than two million euros.
The club is keen to retain one of their most dependable players; however, if an agreement is not reached prior to the expiration of his contract, the 26-year-old will depart without a transfer fee.
The Nigerian right-back has consistently performed well for the Turkish giants since his arrival at Fernache in the 2020-21 season. He has garnered interest from multiple clubs, including Championship team Norwich and French side Lens, both of which are looking to capitalize on the situation to acquire the Nigerian player at no cost when the season concludes.
Both clubs are preparing to make an offer to Osayi, who is currently uncertain about extending his contract, while they closely observe the developments regarding his situation.
