Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have announced that Leon Balogun has signed a contract extension with the club.
Balogun has committed his future to the Light Blues, penning a one-year deal until the 2024-2025 season.
The veteran Super Eagles defender rejoined Rangers last July following an injury to Leon King.
Things did not go well for Balogun in the first three months of the 2023-2024 season, with few appearances and not being included in Rangers’ Europa League squad.
During his first stint as a Rangers player, Balogun was a key member of the team that won the Scottish Premiership in 2020-2021 and also played a key role in the team winning the Scottish Cup the following season.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Balogun said: “I am very, very happy and privileged to be able to extend my contract at a club like Rangers. I have said in the past I wish I could’ve been here sooner in my career because it fuels the fire to succeed all the time.
“I want to win more trophies here and win more titles. As a player, you want to make sure you are part of the history of this club because there are not many places in the world where there is a greater honour or a greater privilege.”
Manager Philippe Clement added: “I am delighted Leon has signed a contract extension with the club to remain as a crucial part of our squad next season.
Balogun made a total of 84 appearances for Rangers, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
His other club stints include Türkiemspor Berlin, Hannover, Werder Bremen, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Darmstadt 98, Mainz 05, Brighton & Hove, Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers.
