Nantes ended an eight-match winless streak in Ligue 1, as delightful Super Eagles forward Moses Simon strike powered the Canaries to a 1-0 win over Clermont Foot that lifted them out of the relegation zone, Reelradio.com.ng reports.

The visitors showed confidence not befitting of a side that hadn’t won on the road in Ligue 1 action since February, and dominated the early stages of this clash. An early snapshot from Quentin Merlin stung the palms of Clermont goalkeeper Mory Diaw, and the Nantes wing-back turned provider for their next opening, slotting in Florent Mollet, who saw his strike beaten away by Diaw.

Moses Simon struck the winner in the 48th minute to silence Clermont Foot fans and ensure Nantes tick the win box for the first time this season.

After five matchday’s, Nantes occupied 15th spot on the standing with two points and in urgent need of redemption ahead of kickoff on Sunday September 17.

The first half failed to produce any goal at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied but three minutes after the restart, Nigerian International, Moses Simon scored a stunning goal to hand the Yellow and green a 0-1 win.

That was his first goal of the French Ligue One season, and takes FC Nantes tally up to five points .
