The Nigeria Football Federation has categorically denied rumors in various online publications on Wednesday that the football regulatory body has banned Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen from the team for his social media outburst a few days ago.
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, NFF General Secretary, expressed surprise at the reports, stating that the Federation had not instructed or finalized a process to ban the player from the National Team.
“The NFF hereby implores the media to work with the body to positively address difficulties and then focus on the big picture at all times, rather than needlessly escalating specific issues. There was no official communication from the NFF, but some people have gone to town to discuss removing Osimhen from the National Team. This is not good at all.”
“Our current priority is to overcome any Super Eagles-related issues so that we may confidently look forward to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the final six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.”
“This is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space the more.”
