In a thrilling matchday 23 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigerian winger Godwin Odibo made a triumphant return to the league, scoring a late winner for Shooting Stars against Bendel Insurance FC.
Odibo, who previously played for Remo Stars and Sporting Lagos, had spent the last six months in Rwanda with APR FC. His wealth of experience gained during his stint abroad was evident as he made an instant impact upon his introduction into the game with just 15 minutes remaining.
The attacker sealed the win for Shooting Stars in the 81st minute, scoring the only goal of the contest. The Oluloye Warriors’ 1-0 victory extended their impressive winning streak to six matches, propelling them to second place on the NPFL log with 40 points.
Remo Stars Sports Club continues to lead the pack, sitting eight points clear of Shooting Stars. Odibo’s return to the NPFL has undoubtedly bolstered Shooting Stars’ attacking options, and his experience will be invaluable in their pursuit of the title.
As the NPFL season heats up, fans can expect more thrilling encounters, and Godwin Odibo’s return is certainly a welcome addition to the league.
