Enyimba technical adviser, Stanley Eguma has insisted that his team still needs to improve and is hopeful of a better showing in the second half of the season.
The nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions secured a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars on Monday in what was their first win of the second stanza.
The hard-earned victory saw People’s Elephant put an end to their six-games winless streak across all competitions following Ifeanyi Ihemekwele decisive goal five minutes before the break.
“It’s a good performance and a good result. We drew at home, and now we’ve won away,” Eguma said after the game.
“I joined this team recently, and the players are gradually understanding my philosophy, just as I am getting to know them better. This growing understanding is the reason we got this result.
“We’re gradually putting our first-round struggles behind us, but we’re still worried about our position in the league table. Our focus is to improve our standing.”
Enyimba will be away to Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo in their next game on Sunday.
