Nyima Nwagua, the 2022 NPFL winner and former captain of Rivers United, has arrived in Saudi Arabia to finalize his transfer to Alsaad-club, a second division team, according to Reelradio.com.ng.
The former captain of Rivers United landed at King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia and went to Alsadd Club to meet up with his teammates.
At the age of 31, Nyima Nwagua managed to achieve respectable results for the Pride of Rivers in the previous season, contributing with nine goals and four assists across 34 NPFL matches. This effort led the team to secure an 8th position, narrowly missing out on the qualification positions for Continental football by nine points.
Nwagua played a vital role in Rivers United’s successful campaign in the 2021/2022 NPFL season, lifting the league title with four games to spare.
Nwagua was welcomed by Mohannad Aldousery, the supervisor of Alsaad Club’s inaugural team at the King Khalid International Airport. His purpose was to assist him in acclimatizing to his new surroundings and to address the outstanding aspects of the agreement.
As the Nwagua approaches the later stages of his professional football career, the prospect of playing abroad becomes increasingly realistic, particularly given the substantial financial incentives involved. Consequently, it is logical for Nwagua to consider departing from the Nigerian Premier League (NPFL).
Joining the team will allow Finidi George to exhibit leadership qualities within the locker room, drawing upon his extensive experience gained in the NPFL. Furthermore, he will have the opportunity to demonstrate his dedication and physical prowess on the field.
