Chuba Akpom’s move to Lille is officially on. The Nigerian forward has joined the French Ligue 1 side on an initial loan deal from Ajax.
This move comes after Akpom struggled to secure regular playing time at Ajax, despite joining the club two years ago from Middlesbrough.
As part of the deal, Lille will cover Akpom’s full salary for the entire loan period, and they also have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for €12.5m.
Akpom’s arrival at Lille is expected to pave the way for Mohamed Bayo’s loan move to Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
Akpom has expressed his excitement about the move, and he’s looking forward to getting more playing time and making a significant impact at Lille.
