Osimhen overtakes Yakubu Aiyegbeni Super Eagles’ all-time top scorers list, eyes Segun Odegbami next

Victor Osimhen, the new striker for Galatasaray, has ascended to third position on Nigeria’s all-time top scorers list, overtaking the iconic Yakubu Aiyegbeni with his 22nd goal for the Super Eagles.

Osimhen achieved this milestone during Nigeria’s impressive 3-0 win against Benin Republic in their qualifying match for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Uyo on Saturday evening.

The current African footballer of the year recent goal has allowed him to surpass Aiyegbeni’s total of 21 goals, securing his position in third place on the Super Eagles’ all-time scoring list.

He is now only one goal shy of Segun Odegbami’s record of 23 goals and continues to chase Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer, Rashidi Yekini, who holds the record with 37 goals.
