Parents and Children Excited over Easter Holiday Tennis Championship

Parents have given praise and commendations to the Ikoyi Club 1938 for their continuous running of the Easter Holiday Tennis Clinic and Championship which will end on Saturday.

Over 60 kids are taking part in the catch-them-young programme organized by the Club which will come to an end on Saturday with finals in four boys’ and girls’ categories.

The children who are on holiday have also expressed their excitement in taking part in the 2024 Ikoyi Club Easter Holiday Tennis Clinic and Championship which is already in its fourth day.

The kids between the ages of 7-16 years are making the best use of their out-of-school period at the programme and they have been going through the latest techniques in the sport by seasoned coaches at the elite recreational centre.

Mrs Atebe, a parent, expressed her delight at the progamme declaring that it serves as a solid foundation for the kids who could be future stars.

“This is a very good initiative by Ikoyi Club and we are very happy with the opportunities this programme presents to the kids,” she said.

Mrs Zainab Mohammed, also another parent, also said: “We are impressed by this and one of the good things that could come out of this is the fact that some of the kids might just pick inters in the sports and they may want to go to it professionally in the future.”

Jaden Atebe, a participant declared: “This is one of my best period of the year because I love tennis so much. My parents are supporting me and I am determined to be a star of the game in the future.”

Khalid Mohammed, one of the shining stars also stated: “I am happy to be playing again this year; I am the champions of the Under-7 and the Under-9 categories and I am playing in the Under 13-category now. I want to win again because I have been looking forward to this tournament since the start of this year”.

Meanwhile, Ikoyi Club 1938 says its commitment to the development of tennis in Nigeria remains unwavering as the 2024 Easter Tennis Clinic/ Tournament nears its climax.

According to the Tennis Section Captain, Azubuike Okonkwo, the feedbacks from the previous editions have been encouraging hence the Club’s renewed commitment to the programme.

The five-day programme which is in four categories will end on Saturday with lots of goodies for kids who distinguished themselves.
