Newly promoted NPFL side El-Kanemi Warriors have defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 to win the 2024 President Federation Cup
Nasiru Salihu scored the opening goal for El-kanemi Warriors in the 31st minute to redeem his penalty missed earlier in the game in the 13th minute as the first half ended 1-0.
Coach Bethel Orji of Abia Warriors made a couple of substitutions at the restart of the 2nd half, Emmanuel Onu, Paschal Nwabueze, Antoine Desouza, and Arinze Ogbonna came in to replace Meme Okike, Ayodele Ezekiel, Samson Obi, and Wotlai Daniel as they continue to search for an equalizer.
El-kanemi doubled their lead in the 68th through Nasiru Salihu who got his 2nd goal in the game to take the game beyond the reach of Abia Warriors
It’s the 3rd FA Cup title for El-kanemi Warriors and the first since 1992 when they defeated Stationery Stores at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.
The Federation Cup champion will now join Enyimba International to represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup next season and have also won the sum of N50millon prize money while Abia Warriors will get N20million.
