Slovakia shock Belgium with a 1-0 win in Frankfurt

What a shock in Group E, and what a result for Slovakian football!

That seventh-minute strike from Schranz proves to be the winning goal after 97 minutes of Belgian desperation, with the Red Devils denied two goals in the second half alone!

The latter was highly controversial, with the very slightest of handballs against Openda chalking off Lukaku’s much-deserved equaliser four minutes from the end of normal time.

Further opportunities followed in waves with Lukaku having another goal disallowed for a prior offside and seeing efforts from Trossard, Bakayoko and Onana kept out by Dubravka and his defence.

Slovakia saw early efforts from range by Haraslin and Vavro go astray at the other end, but their defending was sublime to keep Belgium at bay with some help from VAR and getting their Euro 2024 campaign off to a winning start!
