Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed his desire to join Kaizer Chiefs if the opportunity had arisen during the summer transfer window.

Nwabali has had an impressive 2024 season. His outstanding performances for Chippa United in the South African Premier League earned him a call-up to the national team for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

During the 2023 AFCON, Nwabali proved to be a dependable player, achieving four clean sheets as the Super Eagles secured a second-place finish.

Following the tournament in Ivory Coast, there were speculations regarding Nwabali attracting interest from teams in England, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa; however, no concrete developments emerged from these rumors.

In August, Chippa United extended a contract offer to the former Enyimba player, and he was named captain for the 2024-2025 season.

In an interview with Metro FM, as reported by Soccer Laduma, Nwabali expressed, “Honestly, Kaizer Chiefs is the club I truly aspire to play for in South Africa; it’s the team I have always wanted to represent with all my heart.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve been a long-time supporter, but this is the club I genuinely wish to join.

“While I acknowledge that the Rwandan player [Ntwari] is performing exceptionally well, Kaizer Chiefs stands out as the club in South Africa that I feel drawn to.”

So far this season, Nwabali has achieved two clean sheets in seven Premiership matches, while allowing eight goals.
