The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo will be the home of the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series, Reelradio.com.ng reports.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Ibrahim Gusau disclosed this when he visited Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno in Uyo Thursday.
The 30,000-capacity Godswill Akpabio Stadium was the home ground of the Super Eagles when they qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The first two rounds of the 2006 World Cup qualifying tournament will be played between November 13 and 21.
Nigeria are drawn in a group along with South Africa, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Lesotho and Benin.
The winners of the group will advance to the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, while the best runners-up will playoff for an additional place for Africa.
NFF president Gusau also disclosed that the Super Eagles will play their final group game for the 2023 AFCON against Sao Tome and Principe at the stadium on September 10. Nigeria have already qualified for the Africa Cup, which will now be played in Cote d’Ivoire in January 2024.
