The German athlete has extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2028; however, his future in football remains uncertain.
Florian Wirtz is currently one of the most prominent figures in the sport. His skill, talent, and impact on the field have made him a highly coveted player among Europe’s top clubs, even as he appears committed to Bayer Leverkusen.
Recently, the publication ‘Kicker’ reported that Wirtz has come to an agreement to renew his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. Although he was already under contract until 2027, the German player has reportedly consented to extend his association with the club for an additional year.
This agreement, while reached, has yet to be formalized, and it seemed to quell the rumors surrounding his future. Nevertheless, this is not the case. Despite the renewal with Leverkusen, numerous clubs are actively pursuing him ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Specifically, as reported by ‘Sky Sports’, both Bayern Munich and another unnamed club are determined to secure his services and have made him a key target in their efforts to enhance their rosters. The Bavarian club began discussions several weeks ago to facilitate his transfer for next summer, while the Spanish giants are closely observing the situation, as Wirtz is highly esteemed and considered an ideal addition to their squad.
One need only examine his statistics to understand that he is an exceptional player. In the previous season, Wirtz scored 18 goals and contributed 20 assists, serving as the offensive leader for a remarkable Leverkusen squad that secured both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal. This season, he maintains an impressive performance, having recorded 11 goals and 5 assists to date.
