The Saudi Arabian Professional League is abuzz with rumors as several clubs express strong interest in acquiring the services of Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong ahead of the summer transfer window, Reelradio.com.ng reports.

The revelation comes from renowned Italian transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano, who cited Troost-Ekong’s stellar performances as the catalyst for the sudden surge in interest.

Romano, in a statement made on Friday, highlighted the impact of Troost-Ekong’s displays for the Nigerian national team during the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Meanwhile, William Troost-Ekong has cemented his position as one of the best defensive players at the AFCON leading Nigeria’s defense which has conceded the least goals in the competition.

Nigeria has only conceded two goals in six AFCON games so far with only one of them coming from open play. His command of the defense alongside West Brom defender Semi Ajayi, Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina, Fulham’s Calvin Bassey, and FC Porto’s Zaidu Sanusi has been one of the hottest topics at the tournament.

Troost-Ekong has been a mainstay for Greek side PAOK this season completing 90 minutes in nine out of 10 games he’s featured in helping his side sit top of the table.
