According to reports in Turkish media, Trabzonspor is preparing to make a final push to secure the signing of Nigerian international Paul Onuachu. The forward, currently with Southampton, has attracted interest from the Turkish club following a successful loan spell with them last season.
It has been stated that Trabzonspor, having been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Burnley’s Wout Weghorst, has now prioritized reaching an agreement for Onuachu. Despite initially targeting Weghorst as an alternative option, negotiations appear to have reached an impasse.
As a result, Trabzonspor is set to reopen discussions with Southampton regarding the potential transfer of Onuachu. Southampton has previously turned down an offer of €7m plus €2m in add-ons from the Turkish club. It is anticipated that both parties will seek a compromise during these upcoming talks.
According to reports, the two clubs are expected to finalize a deal for the Nigerian player as Trabzonspor aims to address their scoring problems.
Onuachu had a successful season with 17 goals in 25 appearances for Trabzonspor. He is currently under contract with Southampton until June 2026.
