Gift Orban received the first red card of his professional career as KAA Gent came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over KAS Eupen in a Belgian Pro League match at the Ghelamco Arena on Sunday evening, Reelradio.com.ng reports.

The 2023 Super Eagles invitee could face more disciplinary action given that he received a straight red card for an offense deemed to be violent conduct.

In the 45th minute, Orban was dismissed for shoving Rune Paeshuyse in the neck, causing the KAS Eupen defender to collapse on the turf in pain, and the referee confirmed the red card after a review by the VAR.

Orban gestured to the home fans as he made his way off the pitch and seemed to take the blame for the red card.

It was a straight red, his first in Belgium, and he will now miss at least three league matches as a result.

Despite his expulsion, Gent still beat visiting KAS Eupen 2-1 to go top of the table with 17 points from seven games.

The striker missed a UEFA Conference League group game in Poland against Zorya of Ukraine Thursday due to injury he suffered in Super Eagles training camp in Uyo.
