Victor Osimhen is reportedly “95%” likely to leave Napoli this summer, with Manchester United prepared to activate his release clause, according to Italian sources.
The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Galatasaray but will return to Napoli after the 2024-25 season, as he is not expected to make a permanent move to the Turkish club, as stated by Napoli Magazine.
The publication also suggests there’s a strong likelihood—95%—that he will make a permanent exit from Napoli, with Manchester United keen to secure his services as they search for a new center forward.
Joshua Zirkzee, who joined the Red Devils from Bologna for €42.5 million last summer, has faced significant challenges at Old Trafford, while Rasmus Hojlund has not met expectations following his €73.9 million transfer.
Consequently, Ruben Amorim is eager to bring in a new striker, and Osimhen has become the top target for Manchester United in recent weeks.
There have been rumors that Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho might be included in a swap deal for Osimhen, but Napoli Magazine reports that Manchester United is ready to trigger his €75 million release clause to finalize the transfer this summer.
Osimhen has had an impressive season with Galatasaray, scoring 20 goals and providing five assists in 25 matches across all competitions, with his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently at €67.2 million.
Paris Saint-Germain is also expected to compete with Manchester United for the Nigerian forward this summer, while clubs in Saudi Arabia may renew their interest after attempting to secure a deal in 2024.
Meanwhile, Chelsea seems to be focusing on Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, although they were close to signing Osimhen last year and could potentially re-enter the race for him when the 2025 summer transfer window opens.
