Janet Akekoromowei, known as ‘Semenya’, showcased her talent by scoring a hat-trick during the Flamingos’ impressive 9-0 victory over Niger in the WAFU B U17 Women’s Championship held in Ghana. She is optimistic about the team’s chances against Cote d’Ivoire as the tournament progresses.
The Flamingos are set to face Cote d’Ivoire on Monday.
“We are aiming for another win against Cote d’Ivoire,” stated ‘Semenya’.
“We approach each match individually, and I am confident that we will secure another victory in our next game.”
The accomplished striker, who has already made her debut with the Super Falcons, attributed her success against Niger to the collective effort of the team.
“Achieving a hat-trick was challenging, but it was a result of teamwork, and we adhered to the coach’s strategies,” she remarked.
“I am here in Ghana to score goals for Nigeria.”
The Nasarawa Amazon striker recently emerged as the top scorer in a pre-season tournament in Benin City, netting four goals.
