Nigerian international Zaidu Sanusi has made a successful return to action for FC Porto, coming on as a substitute in the League Cup semi-final against Sporting CP.
Sanusi’s comeback comes after a lengthy 325-day absence due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered in February 2024.
The 27-year-old defender has been working tirelessly to regain his fitness and was finally cleared to return to competitive action.
Although FC Porto lost the match 1-0, Sanusi’s performance was impressive, with 27 touches, a completed dribble, and a key opportunity created.
His return to action is a significant boost for FC Porto, who are looking to solidify their defense for the remainder of the season.
Sanusi will also be hoping to regain his spot in the Super Eagles squad, having last played for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
